Save Long Island SAFE ACT Event….and the Assembly and Senators were a NO SHOW!

What happens when in the middle of the night a bill gets rushed to the NY Assembly and Senate and you awaken to find your 2nd Amendment Rights have been infringed upon?  Well, most citizens want to speak to their legislators to find out why they voted or did not vote.  They would like some answers; some civil conversation that doesn’t include a form letter….that’s what they want.  What did they get?

Save Long Island, a non-political, non-partisan group invited all 31 Long Island Assembly and Senators to a Town Hall style meeting at the South Huntington Library –and not one legislator showed. Is this the way to make your constituents happy? Is this the way to get reelected?  Well, perhaps some of the Republican and Conservative legislators who voted “with their [mostly Democrat] districts”, stabbing their own party in the back by voting against the 2nd Amendment thought so. Apparently they thought not showing up would save some grief and that they could expect more votes from the other party who actually support the NY SAFE ACT.  Well their constituents in the room this blustery spring night –some who had expressed that they actually helped these legislators to get elected by collecting signatures, donating to them or rallying for them didn’t think it was a smart thing and vowed to vote them out.

What happened at this Town Hall Meeting was that a room full of very passionate people turned the tables and stepped up on the stage one by one before a backdrop of empty chairs with the missing legislators names listed and became part of a video filmed by Danny Panzella of truthsquad.tv.  This night became a night of impassioned pleas, anger, frustration, examples, reasoning, and justice for some of the 80 plus citizens that took the time from their own lives to find out answers to their questions only to be let down once again by those they voted to legislate with the Constitution.  Many agreed that the only way to get justice was to vote these legislators out and run for office themselves.  Many candidates who stepped up to the plate to run themselves, stepped up to the stage to inspire others to do the same including Gigi Bowman running against one of the Republican voters of the NY Safe Act, Carl Marcellino. One candidate for Suffolk County Sheriff, Michael Houze, read a form letter sent by Republican and Conservative  Assemblyman, Chad Lupinacci which drew moans from the crowd. Also speaking  was Congressional Candidate Michael McDermott running against Steve Israel in 2014.

The night wasn’t a total loss in not having the legislators attend. By expressing their dissatisfaction with the current crop in office and vowing themselves to run or support those who run against them, it was a very productive night indeed.  There is a new plan for the future of Long Island and it doesn’t include those pictured on the screen below.

A New Video Series from Gigi Bowman: How She’s Running for Office on A Liberty Platform

This is a series about running for office for the first time. Not knowing what I’m doing just knowing there is passion and drive behind it –like all Liberty Candidates we are not career politicians or politicians at all –we’re just citizens of the United States who care about our communities and our children and want the same freedoms for them that we have grown up with –but we seem to be losing our liberties more each day. I want to have a say in what’s happening –I can no longer sit back and watch. I’m going to share with you my experiences because if I can do this you can too.

The only reason to run for office is to repeal and Nullify all the laws and legislation that are stopping us from living a free life. From the TSA to the NDAA to the reason that Hemp is illegal in this country we need to find a way back to where we could get on with our lives without living in fear of our Government.

I hope that my experience gives you inspiration that you can do it to. I’m a real estate agent and a mom and wife not a politician.

This series is inspired by the book of the same name “How to Run for Office on a Liberty Platform” written by Liberty Candidates. I am the President and Creator of http://www.libertycandidates.com. You can find the book on our website.

If you are running on a platform of liberty please fill out our application.

Thank you for watching.

Where is the Anger? NY “Safe” Act

100_7196

I want to know where is the anger on Long Island towards the legislators who voted for this? Where is a call for the legislators to explain themselves? Why are the people on Long Island who are involved in the Republican party still asking for donations and having fundraisers and patting each other on the back? When will the people of Long Island who call themselves Republicans and Conservatives STOP BEATING A DEAD HORSE? What will they do, slap their local Senator and Assemblyman on the wrist and say “bad”. I’m sorry but HOLD THESE PEOPLE ACCOUNTABLE! Lets face it –there are more people in their districts who are against guns (for lack of education) than for them –so giving away our 2nd Amendment even though YOU HELPED THEM GET INTO OFFICE– is not as important as KEEPING THAT JOB and to do that they pandered to the highest count of voters and it wasn’t YOU!

They are traitors and no one is saying a thing….. Well, I’m saying something –I’m running for office now because I’m MAD!

LONG ISLAND, NY, January 23, 2013 ― The rallying cry of the Ron Paul Revolution has been a call to action for some of the most sincere and idealistic people from all across the United States. Many of them have no prior experience in politics but feel a heartfelt mission to make a difference in a world needing desperate change. One such woman is Gigi Bowman, founder of the Liberty Candidates organization which helps unite libertarian minded people of all parties to get their message out and win elections.

Since founding Liberty Candidates in 2009, Bowman’s organization has fielded hundreds of candidates and given their message a national forum to be heard and recognized.

Bowman, who is one of the Ron Paul movement’s most dedicated organizers, entered politics following the tragic loss of her daughter in 2003 to prescription medication. She has been a dynamic advocate for such controversial topics as pharmaceutical reform, GMO labeling and many other issues that candidates and parties are too timid to challenge. Taking her advocacy to the next level, Bowman announced last week her intention to run for office, seeking the New York State Senate seat for District 5.

Gentle yet every bit a courageous mother figure, Bowman wrote in an announcement e-mail to supporters, “I have watched as the loss of liberty has become more and more apparent … I am stepping up today to run for office because I cannot sit back and watch any longer as our beautiful country and the freedoms and liberties that our founders fought so hard for are diminished daily by political parties and administrations that are working against the people, not for the people. While we are struggling to afford what we hope are fresh, healthy food for our children, our legislators spend their days doing photo-ops, ribbon cuttings and running photo contests about our environment instead of educating us about what is happening to our community – most likely they don’t even know themselves!”

I sought out Gigi Bowman for an interview to discuss what her take was on President Obama’s new term and how national politics would affect her candidacy and state policy.
