This Is What Happens When The Invited Legislators Don’t Show Up….

The 31 Legislators from Long Island who were invited to speak to their Constituents by the group Save Long Island, didn’t show up…. not one….  So the people stepped up to the mike and said what they had to say –right back at them.

Seems like a lot of people will be using their voting rights to vote these legislators right out of a job come election day!

A New Video Series from Gigi Bowman: How She’s Running for Office on A Liberty Platform

This is a series about running for office for the first time. Not knowing what I’m doing just knowing there is passion and drive behind it –like all Liberty Candidates we are not career politicians or politicians at all –we’re just citizens of the United States who care about our communities and our children and want the same freedoms for them that we have grown up with –but we seem to be losing our liberties more each day. I want to have a say in what’s happening –I can no longer sit back and watch. I’m going to share with you my experiences because if I can do this you can too.

The only reason to run for office is to repeal and Nullify all the laws and legislation that are stopping us from living a free life. From the TSA to the NDAA to the reason that Hemp is illegal in this country we need to find a way back to where we could get on with our lives without living in fear of our Government.

I hope that my experience gives you inspiration that you can do it to. I’m a real estate agent and a mom and wife not a politician.

This series is inspired by the book of the same name “How to Run for Office on a Liberty Platform” written by Liberty Candidates. I am the President and Creator of http://www.libertycandidates.com. You can find the book on our website.

If you are running on a platform of liberty please fill out our application.

My Senate Website is http://www.gigibowmanforsenate.com if you would like to donate I would appreciate that very much.

Thank you for watching.

NY State Wants to Replace Parental Rights to Pander to Big Pharma!

100_7196

The bill below which is being voted on in NY State wants to require children born after 1996 to have the HPV aka Gardasil Vaccine in order to be enrolled in the Public School system. They are also voting to have this vaccine administered without parental consent???

Lets connect the dots here…..  in the middle of the night on January 14, 2013,  our 2nd Amendment rights were virtually whisked away with a bill presented to the NY Legislature that they barely had time  to read before being voted upon. The reason for this was the “Sandy Hook” incident with the excuse of emergence in having us protect our children from guns. Except for Ken Blankenbush of the 117th Assembly District, and Senator Greg Ball of Westchester, not one of the Assemblymen or Senators mentioned the root cause of these school shootings possibly being  a mental health problem or the over-administering of SSRI medication and instead, with the help of Governor Cuomo, put into law the NY Safe Act –virtually ignoring any correlation between the Pharmaceutical Companies and what seems to be a new national occurrence- “school shootings” (here is a clip from Fox news pointing this out in 2003)

Now, weeks later, we are faced with legislation pandering to Big Pharma once again.  Two bills to be put fourth before the NY Legislature that will not only require children born after 1996 to receive a vaccine in order to attend school but they are also voting on taking away parental rights to administer this vaccine.

A20267 adds the human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine to the list of vaccines required for school, despite the fact that its actual effectiveness is unknown—at best it may protect against only two of the fifteen cancer-causing strains of the virus—and the side effects and reactions from the vaccine are sometimes severe.

AB497 allows minors to consent to receiving the HPV vaccine without parental consent. States shouldn’t get in the way of family decisions—this is just a way of back-dooring the vaccination.

PLEASE take this time to fight back. Use the attached link to write to the NY Legislators and let them know that this is NOT ACCEPTABLE!

Enough is enough! Keep the state at bay!

Gigi Bowman is running for NY State Senate District 5, 2014 because she’s mad.  Real People, Real Issues!

Where is the Anger? NY “Safe” Act

100_7196

I want to know where is the anger on Long Island towards the legislators who voted for this? Where is a call for the legislators to explain themselves? Why are the people on Long Island who are involved in the Republican party still asking for donations and having fundraisers and patting each other on the back? When will the people of Long Island who call themselves Republicans and Conservatives STOP BEATING A DEAD HORSE? What will they do, slap their local Senator and Assemblyman on the wrist and say “bad”. I’m sorry but HOLD THESE PEOPLE ACCOUNTABLE! Lets face it –there are more people in their districts who are against guns (for lack of education) than for them –so giving away our 2nd Amendment even though YOU HELPED THEM GET INTO OFFICE– is not as important as KEEPING THAT JOB and to do that they pandered to the highest count of voters and it wasn’t YOU!

They are traitors and no one is saying a thing….. Well, I’m saying something –I’m running for office now because I’m MAD!

The 2012 Liberty Inspiration Awards Announced!

Liberty Inspiration Award of 2012

For the third anniversary of Liberty Candidates.com we have decided to honor all
of those who have inspired the liberty movement through the voices of the many.
This organization has always been about inspiration for motivation –we hand the
torch over to those who were inspired by Ron Paul to spread his message in the
political arena– and today we have given the torch to our brothers and sisters in
liberty so that they may shine the light on those who have been there to motivate
them.

It’s called “giving back”

It’s been a very humbling experience to receive these letters and to read each one.
There are so many people out there who have been a part of this growing
movement and we may not have known all these names before but we will always
remember them now as the list grows day by day.

Remember –we are all in this together and this just proves it.

~

We have received 540 letters with nominations for 175 separate people. Wow!
Each and every letter has been printed whether it was one line or a chapter in the
life of someone’s personal history.
We have listed all the honorable mentions in
alphabetical order and kept the top 5 nominees for the end.
Everyone who
received a letter is a winner and everyone who took the time to write a letter was a
winner as well.
In some cases the praise was anonymous and in some cases there
was no signature so we could not publish the name of who gave the praise.
Thank you for partaking in this wonderful experience. May 2013 bring equal if not
more inspiration to a growing movement of love, liberty and freedom.

2012 Liberty Inspiration Award Sponsored by Libertycandidates.com

In honor of our 3rd Anniversary we are introducing the Liberty Inspiration Award.

“This is an award that will be given yearly to 5 people who showed positive effort and energy throughout the year in spreading the message of liberty. They did not have to run for office, but they did have to inspire others to step up, do something that helped to bring people together, or enlighten others by growing the liberty movement in some manner by taking on a leadership role of some sort or by creating a new platform for inspiration — whether it be media, news, music, or just speaking out in some way that may have brought about positive change.

Rules: Please email your nominations to hello@libertycandidates.com. Express why you think they should receive this award. Each person can choose up to 3 people. The comments will be listed with the winning names (anonymously if you wish; just tell me so). We will also list all Honorable Mentions and their letters as well.  This is not about winning –this is about honoring those who inspired you!

Please send all submissions to the email hello@libertycandidates.com; only these will be counted, not submissions listed on this event page or anywhere else.”  Also, I do not accept “form letters” that you write up and send to all your friends to nominate you so refrain from doing this. Each individually letter will be counted. Form letters will be counted once –so don’t bother!

The winners will be announced on January 1st 2013. Their names will be listed on the www.libertycandidates.com websites for a full year as “inspiring leaders of 2012. Submissions can be sent beginning 11/29/12 and will continue through December 30th 2012.

The award will go to the Top 5 vote-getters.

Liberty Candidate Wraps Up His Campaign in a Great Letter

Hi all,

This is Rob Lombardo. I wanted to send out my thoughts wrapping up the 2012 campaign and looking toward the future. I’ve copied additional friends who may not be on the Libertarian Activists mailing list, but who are also lovers of liberty (FYI, those of you not on the list will not be able to reply to it but you can certainly respond to me if you would like). Forgive the length. I don’t go on like this a lot, so indulge me this once:

I’d like to begin by telling a quick story from the ol’ campaign trail:

After it became likely that the Libertarian Party would not gain ballot access for the 5th Congressional District race, I was encouraged to seek out the Independent Party nomination since they had the slot available. The chances seemed slim, as it was suspected that they would simply nominate the Republican, Andrew Roraback and their first order of business was to nominate the very anti-Liberty Rocky Anderson for President.

I saw an opening though. As Rocky Anderson gave a lengthy acceptance speech, rife with altruistic and utopian nonsense of a nanny-state government, he railed against the 2-party duopoly. This particular issue resonated, understandably and appropriately, with the Independent Party delegates. So I quickly tweaked my prepared remarks to bring in allusions to the 2-party duopoly as I tied in the Independent Party’s local successes to my strong support for federalism. Not to toot my own horn, but my speech was awesome, and I left the stage to a resounding applause. Senator Roraback followed with a dry oration with little, if any, substance. It was no more than a rambling “pretty please”. After the speeches, I actually thought I was in! But where things got all Twightlight-Zoney was when one delegate, a man who described himself as “libertarian” and who I chatted with beforehand with many agreements, actually forwarded the motion to nominate Senator Roraback! A delegate eventually moved to nominate me, amid the chairman’s repeated calls for “any other nominations”. It seemed like the delegate simply nominated me out of mercy to spare me the embarrassment of having no support at all. When the votes were tallied I was soundly defeated 15-3.

I couldn’t believe it! After my great speech and after all the ranting against the 2-party duopoly, the so-called Independent Party nominated a member of that very same system they jeered. The “libertarian” delegate found me afterwards and said that he just felt Senator Roraback’s name-recognition would “bring more attention to their party and help them keep ballot access”.

The reason I am telling this story is that, being the candidate, I had to smile and nod politely and be gracious in defeat. I couldn’t give this guy the figurative smack in the head he desperately needs. What’s the point of having ballot access if you repeatedly nominate another major party candidate, as the Independent Party did all across the state this year, and has done quite often in past elections as well? How does it help to break the 2-party duopoly if you prevent outside candidates from getting in the race? These questions drove me crazy and probably turned my face blood-red as he was explaining his pathetic excuse. But, I had to smile and nod, thank him for his consideration, and wish them all well.

What I really could have used, not so much after the fact, but circulating beforehand, was supporters. Supporters who, unlike the candidate, can get down and dirty in caucuses and mingling groups and point out how nonsensical some voters are behaving… even ones that describe themselves as libertarians! The candidate can’t be the bad cop. Think of the soon-to-be unemployed Congressman Joe Walsh of IL.

We have got to get more people involved to not only be candidates but to be these supporters too… get in the game! And these people have to come primarily from those receiving this email. There are spectators; there are cheerleaders; and there are those actually on the field. We do need more candidates, but if that is not your cup of tea, that is OK, just get out there. The sign-waving, the ‘Facebooking’, and donating money are things that I would call cheerleading. And that is not to diminish any of those things. We need them to continue and they are greatly appreciated. If they are honestly all you have time or ability to do, then by all means keep it up and we will be grateful. But if you can, and I have to believe there are more, GET IN THE GAME. Run for office or help out in the campaigns of those of us who are doing so.

I share Dan Reale’s frustration. The enthusiasm that some of us show when we are comfortably behind a keyboard can be multiplied if it is shown out there in the field. I am deeply indebted to the few who actually got out and helped me petition. But honestly, I had hopes of a lot more and was pretty disappointed with the actual “boots on the ground” support I received; with all the energy around Ron Paul, and the 5th district supposedly being Ron Paul’s best in the Constitution State, and me being 99% in line with Ron Paul. What happened? To get me on the ballot we ended up frantically draining our coffers to pay a collection of knucklehead mercenaries whom I wouldn’t trust to watch a sandwich… and we botched the filing anyway! It ended up being essential to get our senate and presidential candidates on the ballot but I find little comfort in that given the time I put in myself.

We need these boots on the ground. We need people engaged. Yes, we need your money too, but help us to put it to good use! If we have more candidates, then where offices/districts overlap we can piggyback off one another. If we have more supporters physically out there they can confront people like the “libertarian” from the Independent Party and push a little harder without creating a Joe-Walsh-YouTube-moment (well, don’t get that obnoxious either way).

And we most certainly need to start early. Given this year’s experience in petitioning; learning what to expect and how to identify locations, I am convinced that had I begun in May, I would have easily reached the target. Had I begun in March, I could have done it entirely on my own. I can recall days with good weather at the right place and the right time I was pulling in 20 seemingly good signatures per hour.

We need to plan, and with the added challenges of ballot access and being the severe underdog in any race, we must do it well in advance of the Republicrats. We need “ground games” and that is why we need more people engaged. A team of people can have a ground game. One person by themselves can only have an illusion and a hell of a lot of stress.

Personally I would really like to hear from people on this mailing who can pledge to actually get involved, beyond cheerleading. Even though we don’t know who is doing what yet, we have to know who will be on the field because before you know it, it will be time to get moving again.

Now as far as what to do: All of the above. There are some who believe we need to grow the Libertarian Party, and some who believe we change the Republican Party from within. Some think we should focus on low level offices and build slowly, and some think we need to go for federal office. Some think we can change trajectory before a massive collapse, and some think we need to just prepare. While it would certainly be beneficial to all be unified and working on the same page, that is just not realistic. So instead of debating what is better or what is worse, what will work and what won’t, while precious time slips by, we ought to accept that there will be differences of opinion and as long as our goal is liberty we ought to support one another. Maybe I think the changing the Republican Party is a waste of time, but if someone here is working on a town committee and pushing for a Republican Liberty candidate, I should still help out if I can. Maybe I think seeking federal offices are better for attacking the roots of the problems, but I should still help out state and municipal candidates. Maybe I think we have time to stop the impending disaster, but I should still support any related prepper initiatives. Let’s not bring each other down and waste time arguing about it.

So anyway, assuming certain things, such as me still living here, I still have my eye on the 5th District again for ‘14, and I am considering Brookfield’s Board of Selectmen for ’13. Who’s going to be on the field with me? What are you going to do? Even if it is a smaller project, a Board of Ed campaign, anything at all… if I can reasonably be of assistance, then count me in! But let’s hear about it!

Vote for Best Candidate Even if Third Party

Former Huntington, West Virginia Mayoral Candidate Dale Anderson II, a member of the Board of Directors of the Huntington Tea Party and a former Liberty Candidate, supports a “best candidate” choice, even if they are a member of a third party.

Anderson said in a press release, “The idea of throwing away votes to a third party candidate, is a emotional tactic used by both political parties. That argument plays on the emotional state of voter, Its not legal or logical. Our founders spoke plain and clear against this idea. The Bible and the Constitution are the measuring stick for anyone seeking public office. Voting for party nominee’s isn’t necessarily the best candidate. I urge you to follow the founding principles this nation was founded on and continue to be a defender and champion of our beloved Constitution.

He continued, “As our founding fathers stood against tyranny and oppression from the throne of King George III so we shall stand against the tyranny and oppression our Republic faces today, our duty is to defend the Constitutional Republic. The greatest compromise in American history took place in 1776, and it’s call the U.S. Constitution. No further compromise is required.”

Finally, Anderson reminded that “our votes on November 6th 2012 are like the muskets of 1776. I urge my fellow citizens, whom I see as defenders of this Republic founded on both the Bible and the Constitution to exercise your right to vote for candidates that support the principles contained in both documents [the Bible] and [the Constitution]. If your unable to find a candidate that meets these qualifications and this is a real problem today within the Democratic and Republican Parties consider yourself a candidate and seek only to serve the people according to our founding principles.”

Why Big Business Candidates Usually Become Big Government Politicians

By Liberty Candidate 2011,

Daniel de Gracia

HAWAII, May 31, 2012 — As congressional candidates square off in primaries across America, one of the most frequently invoked justifications for choosing one party personality over another is “business experience.” We’ve all heard the campaign tagline a million times: “So-and-so’s years of experience in business will help turn around our government and put our nation back on track.” But does experience running a company really make a candidate more qualified for office?

Thinking Carefully About Policy and Profits

In the early days of the Republic, America was a sparsely populated, largely agrarian nation. Legislators often served short careers in office and usually introduced inchoate laws – that is, bills they expected to pass on an as-needed basis. Congressional workload was light to moderate, with most legislators using family members as staff and the topics which came before committees were ones which could be resolved with minimal technical experience.

Today, Congress is a vastly different institution from its origins. Immense expertise on a dizzying array of matters is in high demand as Congress insists on legislating increasingly complex matters ranging from domestic economics to international affairs to even advanced scientific research.

The rise of the “2,000-page bill” introductions along with an already confusing myriad of existing laws, regulations, agency traditions and licensing regimes often force legislators to depend on lobbyists and expert staff members to know what needs to be done. Amidst this chaotic environment, it is argued that a candidate with prior business experience will be the best to handle the so-called “gridlock” of Washington and serve America.

The problem, however, with candidates with business backgrounds – especially those with big business experience – is that running a company well is not the same thing as running a government. In a business, profit-seeking is the core of any successful company. While a company that expands its production and increases its profits may be extremely popular among shareholders, a government that increases its tax revenues and upgrades its operations using “business methods” is essentially becoming better at stealing from taxpayers and more efficient at bossing people around.

As the ancient Greek author Thucydides famously warned in History of the Peloponnesian War, “as the power of Hellas grew, and the acquisition of wealth became more an object, the revenues of the states increasing, tyrannies were by their means established almost everywhere.” Said another way: Want government to help you and your friends get rich? Then use government to rig the market!

Consider this: In a total free market absent any government, no taxes exist; therefore, where revenues minus costs equal profits, money made by businesses goes to paying wages (purchase of labor) and investing in more business (purchase of capital).

Since a free market also has no government-controlled central bank to artificially dilate or contract the money supply through interest rates, the amount of money in the market is relatively stable and combined with increasing efficiency of production, the more “free” a market is, the cheaper products get and ultimately, profits fall.

Liberty Candidates in Bloomberg Business Week! “Ron Paul’s Torchbearers”

Liberty Candidates have made it into the big time!  Elizabeth Dworkin of Bloomberg/Businessweek has written a story including many of our liberty candidates like Karen Kwaitkowski, Tisha Casida, Calen Fretts and more!  Gigi Bowman met up with the author and some of our Liberty Candidates during Philly Phreedom, the Ron Paul Rally on April 22.  In the middle of a storm Elizabeth Dworkin might have found more Liberty than she’d imagined 4,500 people with umbrella’s in the rain to hear the Presidential Candidate who has brought so much inspiration to all the liberty Candidates 🙂

Ron Paul’s Torchbearers

By  on April 26, 2012

Karen Kwiatkowski, a Republican candidate for Congress in Virginia, rarely passes up an opportunity to scold Washington politicians about runaway defense spending, which she says is an egregious waste of taxpayer dollars that does little to make Americans safer. Halfway across the country, Tisha Casida, a Colorado Independent, says she’ll push to end the drug war and legalize marijuana if she’s elected to the House. In Florida, Calen Fretts, a Libertarian seeking to unseat a veteran Republican congressman, promises that if he’s elected he’ll begin working to abolish the U.S. Federal Reserve. “As people increase the size and scope of government,” Fretts says, “there’s got to be a few of us to resist it.”

These candidates have two things in common: All are long shots seeking office for the first time. And all were inspired to run by the same man—Ron Paul.

After 12 terms in the House, Paul, who is 76, says he’ll retire at year’s end. Though he gamely insists he can still defeat Mitt Romney and capture the Republican nomination, his presidential runs have always been about forcing other candidates, and the public, to pay attention to his libertarian arguments for eliminating most taxes, closing federal agencies, bringing U.S. troops home from overseas, legalizing drugs, outlawing official secrecy, dismantling the Fed, returning to the gold standard, and generally getting the government to get out of the way.

If forcing his don’t-tread-on-me, minimalist philosophy into the mainstream is the benchmark, Paul can claim victory and return to Texas a happy man. The professional political class may ridicule him as an eccentric kook leading a cantankerous army of potheads who invade chat rooms with ALLCAPS rants about government overreach. (And no doubt there’s something to that—the most worshipful Paul evangelists can be hard to stomach.) But listening to his rivals in the GOP debates demand that the Fed be audited and the Departments of Energy and Education be shuttered, it’s clear that many of Paul’s positions, once considered extreme, are now routine Republican talking points—and that his influence over conservative politics greatly outweighs his low poll rankings and back-of-the-pack primary returns. “I believe our time has come,” says Paul, who quickly tempers this uncharacteristic display of optimism. “It’s still going to be a knock-down dragged-out fight.”
